Pre-Operative Patients

Dr. Brooks-Hill and Dr. Clark perform elective and urgent surgeries at Squamish General Hospital. When you are scheduled for surgery, please check in at admitting 2 hours prior to your scheduled surgery time.

When you have been scheduled for elective surgery we require you to refrain from taking any anti-inflammatories 10 days prior to your surgery. There are many products that have anti-inflammatory properties please call our office at (604) 905-4075 if you have any questions about the type of product included on the list.   • Smoking increases infection risk and delays wound and bone healing. Many procedures should not be performed in smoker. Please stop smoking prior to your surgery.

  • IF you have been instructed to do so by our office, please print off the following letter and take it to the specified doctor.

    » Call the Sea to Sky Orthopaedics office immediately at (604) 905-4075 if you develop any of the following:

    • fever greater than 38 degrees Celsius
    • severe continuous, uncontrollable pain
    • continuous bleeding
    • continued, severe swelling in the limb that underwent surgery
    • inability to urinate

    » If you do not speak to someone directly please leave a message at the office and then go immediately to the nearest emergency facility that is open:

    • Squamish General Hospital Emergency Department
    • Whistler Heath Care Centre (WHCC) - If between 10pm and 8am, call (604) 932-4911 to speak to the answering service and they will page the doctor on call BEFORE you go to the Whistler Healthcare Centre
