Dr. Brendan Swift is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery. After graduating from medical school at McGill University, he completed residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Ottawa.
After qualifying with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Swift spent a year in Cincinnati, Ohio for a fellowship, training in arthroscopic and sports medicine surgery at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center under the supervision of Dr. Frank Noyes. Dr. Swift gained valuable experience during the fellowship working with athletes of all levels, from recreational, NCAA Division I to National Football League players. Clinically he gained insights into the surgical management of a multitude of knee and shoulder conditions and contributed to peer reviewed publications exploring surgical options for the restoration of cartilage injuries. Following this, he returned to Ottawa for a second fellowship in orthopaedic trauma, further developing skills in fracture care with a specific interest in soft tissue sporting and athletic injuries.
Dr. Swift completed a Master of Business Administration degree, concurrently during his trauma fellowship, with the aim to augment his skills for finding efficiencies to assist in optimizing the delivery of orthopaedic care for Canadians. Dr. Swift is active in mountain biking, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing and is passionate about helping the Sea to Sky community get and stay active in the sports and activities they enjoy.
